Post election Predictions

WASHINGTON — A Republican congressman from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist or fascist dictatorship.

“It may sound a bit crazy and off base, but the thing is, he’s the one who proposed this national security force,” Rep. Paul Broun said of Obama in an interview Monday with The Associated Press. ”I’m just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may — may not, I hope not — but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of radical socialism or Marxism.”

Broun cited a July speech by Obama that has circulated on the Internet in which the then-Democratic presidential candidate called for a civilian force to take some of the national security burden off the military.

“That’s exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it’s exactly what the Soviet Union did,” Broun said. “When he’s proposing to have a national security force that’s answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he’s showing me signs of being Marxist.”

Obama’s comments about a national security force came during a speech in Colorado about building a new civil service corps. Among other things, he called for expanding the nation’s foreign service and doubling the size of the Peace Corps “to renew our diplomacy.”

“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set,” Obama said in July. “We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

Broun said he also believes Obama likely will move to ban gun ownership if he does build a national police force.

Obama has said he respects the Second Amendment right to bear arms and favors “common sense” gun laws. Gun rights advocates interpret that as meaning he’ll at least enact curbs on ownership of assault weapons and concealed weapons. As an Illinois state lawmaker, Obama supported a ban on semiautomatic weapons and tighter restrictions on firearms generally.

“We can’t be lulled into complacency,” Broun said. “You have to remember that Adolf Hitler was elected in a democratic Germany. I’m not comparing him to Adolf Hitler. What I’m saying is there is the potential.”

Obama’s transition office did not respond immediately to Broun’s remarks.

The Ten Cannots

You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatreds.
You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away a man’s initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.
~William J. H. Boetcker, 1916

Obviously this is something that Mr. O has failed to learn. Rather than saying men though, he should say people. He is doing everything on this list.

Fear of the Obama Unknown

I went to see my therapist yesterday. I told her how much the election was bothering me. I finally nailed it down to the unknown. There is so much about Obama that we don't know. We do not know if he is a natural born citizen. We don't know anything about his life, his education, his friends (except the corrupt terrorists and the reverend who damns AMERICA. We just do not know.

Every other election we have had choices of 2 people who are known. We can see their life and their character. But Obama has not permitted us to see anything about him. We know he was a druggie in his youth. We know he hung around terrorists and for the last 20 years he went to a black racist church. He gives us nothing but unknown policies and I am already seeing censorhip of the press. Anyone who asks questions of a difficult nature are closed down.

To me this is scary. It is terrifying in fact. We are facing changes to a widespread degree of our life. If Obama wins, there will be riots in the street. If Obama loses, there will be riots in the street.

I want to start a business but what will happen if I do. His speaking efforts tell me that he will want to tax me so much that there will be nothing left for profit. If a business cannot make a profit, it will not be in business very long.

Tom Brokaw red faced with anger

As I was getting ready for my morning, I flipped on the TV and Meet the Press was on with Tom Brokaw and Senator John McCain was on. It appeared to me that there was the usual attack on the Senator who answered reasonably and with clarity of the issues. Tom cited NBC polls which were unflattering of the Senator and said, "what do you think of that." When John McCain stated that he didn't believe that these polls were accurate Tom got red faced and looked very angry.

Attack and quiet calm answer with facts and policy. Tom attacked, attacked and attacked, looking like a pugnacious fighter. John McCain answered calmly, without getting excited, with answers which were logical and showed clear thinking. Tom just couldn't get his goat no matter how he tried.

I think it is time for Tom to retire. He has lost his objectivity and his ability to correctly and accurately report the news. I wonder what is going to happen IF Obuma wins and the mainstream media find that they have been played by people who have a much different agenda and will be censoring the press like they did in Florida, when something is stated that is not favorable.

I WILL SAY IT AGAIN, THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA HAS BEEN PLAYED FOR FOOLS AND WILL REGRET THEIR BIASED ATTACK ON THE GOP CANDIDATES.

Puke on the View

The girls on the view should go back to blathering about strippers and other nonessential "celebrities" rather than trying to talk politics. Their conduct was that of a pack of hyenas attacking Senator John McCain. They didn't let him talk. They kept changing the questions, interrupting and being very obnoxious. That is certainly one program that I will never watch again.

In contrast, they talked nicely to Obama, let him talk and listened to his views.

Their actions made me ashamed to be a woman and to see such hatred on television. I am turning off my ability to get ABC on my television. Thank God I have that choice.

I was so offended by Barack Obama talk on 9/11

I watched both candidates talk. One encouraged ALL Americans to volunteer, young, old, etc. The other played only to the young people. What are the older people, something to throw out? Remember Mr. BO, if you live long enough, you too will be old, do you want someone talking to you as though you were good for nothing? I was highly offended and angered by Mr. Obama's remarks.

John McCain talked about encouraging people to volunteer. To do more for others. Do it even if the govt doesn't pay you to do it. I agree helping people to do more, like volunteer for the Americorps, the Peace Corps, the military is something that is very important and we need to reward them. Especially the military who put their lives (and the welfare of their family) on the line. Those who join Americorps and Peace Corps get benefits of money to go to school. To improve their future and hopefully go back to work with others to bring benefits to all Americans.

It seemed to me that John McCain sought people to stand up and serve and that Mr. Obama wanted to create more govt. Same-o, same-o. Bigger govt and bigger taxes. Talk to the young who are unable to make choices because of brain development and ignore those of us who have lived a little more of life to have witnessed another day the world stood still.

I, and many other "older" people, do many kinds of volunteer work. I teach knitting and help in the community, to donate the products of my sticks and string to others. Hats, scarves and mittens for others in need, as well as baby things for prospective mothers.

Since Mr. Obama feels that the govt should do the giving (remind me again, isn't that MY tax money you are using), HE IS A GREAT EXAMPLE. He only gives 1%, YES THAT IS ONLY ONE PERCENT, a penny on the dollar, to charity, or to church or to any other entity that helps those in need. No wonder he went to a church where the preacher told others to god damn america and other such bigoted hatred. He is a real example of living a lie.

So let those of us who do, respect those others who do as well. Those who have served our country throughout their lives and get this misogynist, craven, disgraceful, egocentric, bigoted person who thinks that he should represent me a boot. We give, even when we cannot afford to; he takes even though he could afford to.

Sexism in its worst form

I have become even more discouraged about the so-called "equality of the sexes" and the "women's movement" that started when I got out of high school. Burning bras and marches and even the ERA did not do it for us. Sure, there are more jobs open to us but they are still with less money. Very rarely do we get the opportunity and treatment that those with penises do.

It is so frustrating. Finally, this year we have had a woman campaigning FOR PRESIDENT!!! I may not have agreed with her politics but I was so proud. I thought we had finally turned a corner. But no, the sexist comments continued. The attacks because of her vagina instead of penis were incomprehensible. THAT IS NOT AN ISSUE. The issue is what she says that she will do.

So now, we have a person who is an actor, has only been running for office since he gave up his Community Organizing job. (my question is, Did it work? Did it make any change in the southside of Chicago?).

Then we get another woman. One headed for the Vice President position. Wow, I thought. Another strong woman who is more down to earth, has more experience and is one tough cookie. She has intelligent opinions on various topics and is eloquent and believable.

So where does the press go?
She should stay home and be Suzie Housewife. She should be with her baby. She is a bad mother because her 17 year old is having a baby. And the angry militant feminists bought into it. They parroted the same thing right back at her just because she was ?pretty, ?smart, ?had a good husband, ????? It sounds like jealousy, or sour grapes, to me.

WHAT?????? Is this anything we should care about? What about her husband? Isn't he a father? Can't he take care of the family? Run the house? Just because he is a very masculine man, an outdoor sportsman, a commercial fisherman, a long distance extreme snowmobile competitor, this makes him unable to also change a diaper? Give me a break! This is double standardism at its worst.,

Did the press ask the question about whether Joe Biden could raise his sons as a single father when he ran for office? No. Should the fact that his sons were injured be cause for him to drop out of the race? Apparently not.

So why do they attack Sarah Palin? Because she is a woman. So why did they attack Hillary Clinton? Because she is a woman. So why did they attack Geraldine Ferraro? Because she is a woman. Get the picture?

The sad thing is the other women who do the same thing. They do not realize that this is a litmus test for us. If we do not get a woman elected during this campaign, we may not see a woman run for office for many years. We will have effectively been shut down.

We need to break that Crystal Ceiling once and for all. We need to stand up and proclaim that we are women and we are equal, and we do not need to have a penis. We need to stand up and tell the mainstream media to get out of our reproductive lives, out of a woman's place in the home and get out of the mommy role they keep wanting to shove us into.

Obama cannot do that for us. He cannot get us where we should be, we alone can do it.

We should rally to get every sexist reporter off the mainstream media screen and paper. Demand equal rights and equal treatment. Get back to the basics and get what we have fought for all these years. The right to be a woman, a feminine person, who does not have to have a biological appendage, or missing leg to the chromosome combination (XX without a leg to stand on is XY).

Stand up women, this is where we can finally let the rest of the world know that WE CAN DO IT. We can quit being second class citizens. We do not need to wear the burkas of convenience that men everywhere want to put on us. The so-called rights they have over us. We can use our brains and our abilities and get whatever we want.

News media feeding frenzy

The current news media are in a feeding frenzy of bias and attack. It is appalling the manner of their attack, on the baby, on the family, on the husband and has not put forth anything of the candidate. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?

All I hear is how good Mr. Obama is and how horrible it is that the family of Sarah Palin is because they are regular people. It is very surprising to me that they haven't mentioned the DUIs that Congress has had, Ted Kennedy for one. How many times the Senators have gotten freebies and waved off because the elitists felt that they were above the law. Give me a break, the press are so two-faced.

It is sad that the people who are there to inform us and give us information which we can use to make an informed decision. Why, oh why, can't they be true to that ideal instead of to personal interests. I wonder too, HAS THE PRESS BEEN PAID TO BE POSITIVE TO ONE SIDE AND TO TRY TO ATTACK THE OTHER????

They are sitting there lying to the American people. They try to pick negative information on one side and ignore the facts on the other side. Rather giving us a good picture of what each candidate is and what they have done and what they are, the media is giving us trivia, focusing not on the issues but on little things.

Tom Brokaw lost it

I was walking by the TV when I heard a very strident male voice. I turned to watch and saw it was Meet the Press. I looked and Mr. Brokaw looked very angry and belligerent. I started listening to his interview with the Governor of Minnesota. Every time Mr. Brokaw asked a question about Sarah Palin, the Governor had a strong answer for him that showed that she had more experience than Barack Obama. She had more experience in governing, more experience in national security, had been Commander in Chief of the Alaska National Guard, had negotiated with oil companies to provide a relief of gas prices to Alaskans and dealt with corruption in the Alaska government. All Mr. Obama had was that he had been a professional campaigner (my interpretation). I mean, after all, what is a community organizer. Did he make any difference and has it continued to grow after he left?

Mr. Brokaw had more and more of an expression which looked to me like he was angry that the Governor did not believe him and had a rebuttal for every question. It was almost like, How dare you think something other than what I say and how dare you question my belief in my candidate.

It was actually quite hysterical. It was a real evidence of Tom Brokaw's bias towards Mr. Obama because he actually defended Mr. Obama. I think he needs to retire for good if that is his idea of fairness in the news.

NBC's Horrible Olympic Coverage

Per Yahoo's news coverage, "NBC’s effort to convince Olympics officials to schedule certain events in the morning so the network could show them live everywhere except the West Coast."

Therefore, those of us on the West Coast had to wait until long after everyone else had seen the races, 3 hours in fact. I would much rather get to see the competitions when they happen, cheer on the teams and send them my positive energy, than already have the news that my chosen person won or lost.

In the case of the 4x100 relays, I didn't even bother to turn on the show I was so disgusted. In fact, I quit watching the Olympics and didn't even bother to watch the closing ceremony because it went late and I was already sleep deprived by watching the men's basketball team live at 1 oclock in the morning.

I already knew that I would not be able to see a replay of the opening ceremony because I had not purchased my television coverage from an authorized vendor and thus could not see the closing coverage in review as well. Had it been shown on TV when it occurred and not 3 hours later, I would have been able to coordinate it with my schedule.

I resent someone else making the decision that the west coast had to wait for 3 hours to watch a race that was already won or lost.
